In the exhibition Vrijheid van de Gast, I was interested in problematizing the dual nature of hospitality: on the one hand, as an autonomous and genuine gesture that seeks to open space for the Other, and on the other, as an instrument used by nation-states in the construction of the idea of freedom, historically linked to the regulation of otherness and the pursuit of economic and political interests (tourism, trade, labor). This dynamic highlights subjective and also hostile aspects that characterize this experience. The proposal includes a series of symbols, ideas and concepts that reflect my own migratory trajectory as an artist and cook in diferent countries.
